The reuse of information of public interest, in the field of libraries, museums and archives, facilitates the creation of information products and services, favours the development of the information society and contributes to economic growth and job creation. In the case of Fundación Sancho el Sabio Vital Fundazioa, and given the value of the information it preserves, it is considered that facilitating its reuse can also contribute to the development of research projects and facilitate the generation of knowledge about Basque culture.

The Sancho el Sabio Vital Fundazioa Foundation offers the reproduction, digitalisation and document retrieval service to users of the documentation centre. Reproduction can be requested at the library's headquarters or by sending an online request by form or e-mail:

Requests for reproduction of documents that form part of the Heritage collection of Sancho el Sabio Vital Fundazioa will be processed once the user accepts the conditions of use of the reproductions:

• If the work is not in the public domain, i.e. if the exploitation rights have not expired, written authorisation must be requested from the copyright holders. The Biblioteca Nacional de España publishes annually the list of authors in the public domain.
• If the work is in the public domain, i.e. if the exploitation rights have expired due to the expiry of its term of protection, it may be used by anyone, provided that the authorship and integrity of the work is respected. Works in the public domain are: works printed more than 80 years after the death of all authors of the work (original author, preface, translator, compiler, etc.), 70 years for authors who died after 7 December 1987, works by authors in the public domain that have been published subsequently, and for which the editorial or production rights have also expired, and works published under a type of licence that allows public use of the reproduction. 

The copy(s) will be provided for research and/or educational use only, but not for commercial use. For other uses, such as inclusion of the image in a publication or use for exhibition, other conditions apply and express permission may be required. In these cases, the use of such images will involve citing Fundación Sancho el Sabio Vital Fundazioa as the source in accordance with the following formula: Fundación Sancho el Sabio Fundazioa (Vitoria-Gasteiz).

Reproductions of works that are digitised and available in the digital repository of Sancho el Sabio Vital Fundazioa (EMD Euskal Memoria Digitala) will not be sent. In accordance with current legislation and copyright, it is not possible to reproduce documents in their entirety. Only journal articles, chapters or parts of documents may be reproduced for educational and research purposes: 

• Reproduction of 20% is permitted for documents after 1958.
• The bound press may not be photocopied directly. Reproductions will be obtained from existing media (if the document is digitised, the consultation will be digital).
• Graphic materials (photographs, engravings, maps, posters, stickers) will be reproduced by the Foundation itself, which reserves the right to provide access to the digital capture of these materials through EMD. It is not permitted to scan the collections using equipment provided by researchers (‘self-service’).

In the event of publication of the research carried out which includes images, prints or reproductions of the digitised collections of the Fundación Sancho el Sabio Vital Fundazioa, the user must request in writing, prior to said publication, the corresponding permission and hand over a copy of the work once it has been published. In editions containing partial reproductions of Fundación Sancho el Sabio Vital Fundazioa funds, the source of the same must be cited.

The authorisation granted by the Fundación Sancho el Sabio Vital Fundazioa for the reproduction of funds is valid for a single edition only. For subsequent reprints, permission for publication must be requested again.

If digital copies are required for subsequent printing and public exhibition, the request will be made to the Foundation's Management and, if accepted, an agreement will be signed between the parties with the specific conditions of use, attribution and dissemination. 

The following are the tariffs in force from January 2025 (requests will be sent after acceptance of the quotation): 

• online service up to 15 pages : 4,50 EUR

Requests for higher resolution digital capture will be assessed on the basis of the use to which the copy is to be put and, if accepted, the applicant must assume the cost of digitisation after sending a quotation.
