Sancho el Sabio Vital Fundazioa participates in the conference ‘The Complutense Library and the digitisation of its heritage’ in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Dioscorides Project.

March 25 2025

It is 30 years since the collaboration agreement between the Fundación Ciencias de la Salud and the Complutense University, which gave rise to the Dioscorides Project.
This project was a pioneer in the digitisation of libraries and archives, following in time and focus the work of the Sancho El Sabio Foundation, which began digitising its collections in 1993. Both served as a reference and support at a time when digitisation was still an incipient technology at a national and international level.
The digitisation of heritage collections has been key to democratising access to valuable collections, promoting research, study and the dissemination of knowledge.
Jesús Zubiaga Valdivielso, director of the Sancho el Sabio Fundazioa Foundation, will be a speaker at the conference organised by the Complutense University to commemorate this anniversary. A specialist in digitisation and dissemination of heritage collections, he has been involved since 1993 in the project to digitise the Basque bibliographic heritage of the Sancho el Sabio Fundazioa Foundation, supervising all its phases.
